Scott Reynier ~ AKA The Spoon.

Mike Jacoby came into the bar one day, and sat at the end of the bar. "Hey, I finally got a name for Scott" he Said. "Spoon"

"? What? Why?"

"Because he's always stirring things up"

And it Stuck......Spoon. And boy does he stir things up.

Businessman, City Councilor, Insurance agent, Porsche trader, all round great guy.....(Oh, I forgot to add owner of a Great Dane)

I could go on and on about Scott. From his days as one of my Bartenders at the Sixth Street, to the nightmare of major Insurance Claims, and the death of great friends. Scott and I have been there and back.

At once Classy, and yet Unapologetically controversial, Scott's a rare friend.

....And stupid enough not to believe me when I told him these photos were going to go into the Blog.

Scott Reynier, being, well, Scott, Hood River Rotary, 1.26.2006.

Meeeetings........

ooh. These weeks are long. Occasionally in my County Comissioner duties, we have a perfect storm of meetings. It can be lengthy.

This is Chuck Thomsen, He's been around awhile, one of the longest running county commissioners in Oregon. Great guy. I learn alot from him.

He represents the East Side of our Valley, and alot of Farmers. Lots of the Downtown people disagree with his thinking, but when I hear both sides, I think he and they agree on alot more than everyone is willing to admit.

Chuck's Favorite Phrase: "If it isn't Broke, Don't fix it"

People in your neighborhood

This is Brent Foster. He's the executive Director of Columbia River Keeper. He was their lawyer for a bunch of years, but now has moved into the pole position. Their offices are right across the street from our house, and I caught him as one of his first official acts, cleaning out the cobwebs of his office.

The Waikiki Rod and Gun Club

OK, So my dad and his friends were quite the rabblerousers when they were young. He and his friends used to compete in a Billfishing Tournament, but from what I heard it was mostly a chance to get away and be rowdy (sorry pop)

Dr. Kelley, a longtime friend of ours, and the person who, along with Chuck Rolles, helped me get into Cornell, (that's another story completely) Sent this one to me. From the Left-Uncle Gary Peters, My Father, Dr. Kelley, and Uncle Grover Liesie (In Hawaii, everyone is an Uncle.....)

It's tough to explain how much larger than life these men are. My Father was 43. That was a different time.

Big Surf

During the week between Christmas and New Years, we can't seem to get any work done, so this year we gave up and went to the coast to hang with some family. My Sister Malia, the eldest of the seven of us, Passed away a few years back from cancer. Her Husband, Bill,

and his family still come out to the Oregon Coast, their favorite place to visit while she was still alive.

This is the beach of the Great White Shark Attack the made the national news. We've surfed here for years. We walked out to the point to watch the few surfers (!) out there. There was a very large, Dead Seal on the beach, chased out of the water by the Shark, I'm sure. (It was missing a pretty big piece) Nathaniel got cold.

The Surf was biiiiiig.

Portland Christmas Trip!
What a great end to the year. Lots of snow, a great mix of busy and quiet. I've been settling into the Copper West operations. (Brokering Real Estate, my REAL Job) which has been nice.
In early December, we went to Portland to stay at the Mallory Hotel and do some Christmas Shopping. What a great experience. Like going on a Huge vacation. We walked around, looked at all the great sights in town, and didn't buy a thing. (Ok, one small Pirate Hat for Nathaniel, but that hardly counts.......) Then we came back, compiled videos into DVD's for the family, and chose to make donations in local groups on behalf of our Families. I must say, Portland is a Beautiful City, especially in the Winter Time..........
